Harvard CUSD 50 has lost a creative and loving fixture in our community. Harvard Junior High’s Holly Friday passed away on Monday, July 3rd, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. For 17 years Holly taught students in all manner of artistic endeavors. Thank you, Mrs. Friday, for your wonderful teaching and dedication to the arts.
From the Northwest Herald:
She was born August 11, 1960, in Deerfield, IL, daughter of the late, Marjorie and Frank Stieber. Holly attended Holy Cross grade school and Deerfield High School where she amassed lifelong friends. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Holly discovered her love of the arts and lived her love of creative expression by sharing this passion with hundreds of students throughout her teaching career, first at St. Mary’s School in Buffalo Grove and then at Harvard Junior High School in Harvard, IL.
She loved her family, friends, co-workers, dogs, Madra and Valley, and they loved her. Holly gathered good people into her life through all of her pursuits, including the Clayworkers’ Guild of Illinois, and special friends with whom she quilted and knit.
Cards and letters may be sent to the Harvard CUSD 50 Central Administration Center located at 401 N. Division Street, Harvard, IL 60033.
Those wishing to honor Holly may do so by sending gifts to US Bank, 2253 N. Richmond Rd, McHenry, IL 60050, Attention: Holly Friday Memorial Fund. All donations will go towards her memorial and breast cancer research.
