Harvard Junior High School serves sixth through eighth grade students in a departmentalized setting. The 2017-18 school year saw the introduction of the acclaimed AVID program, which prepares students for success in high school, college, and a career, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
To help with the total development of the student, Harvard Junior High offers a variety of classes and activities, including music, sports, student government, art, technology, and extended curriculum. The junior high staff works closely with the high school staff to ensure a smooth transition for eighth grade students into high school.
Harvard CUSD 50 went live on the district’s Facebook page for a discussion of Harvard Junior High’s “8th Grade Contract For Success.” Introduced for the 2017-2018 school year the contract raises expectations and requirements for promotion. Superintendent Dr. Corey Tafoya was joined by Co-Principals Maura Bridges and Nancy Reczek to explain the agreement. The development of the contract is part of the district’s Strategic Plan Goal 1 which is intended to maximize the academic achievement and personal growth of every student.
