On Thursday, May 18th, through the generosity of the Harvard Community Education Foundation (HCEF), Crosby Elementary students will enter the Sky Dome Planetarium. The 36′ dome will present Next Generation Science Standards in a visual way. K-3rd graders will see Greek constellations, the Milky Way Galaxy, the Sun and all the planets. The interactive experience is certain to bring a sense of awe and wonder for science, building interest and futures in STEM careers. May 18th also brings opportunities for family participation in the sciences. At 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm families may enter the dome for a 40-45 minute journey through the universe. With a maximum of 90 people in the dome at a time, families are encouraged to RSVP for this unique opportunity to experience “flights” toward each world in our solar system. By engaging our K-3rd students in STEM interactive activities with their families, Crosby children will grow their natural curiosity in science and become life-long learners.
