At Wednesday’s public meeting, the Harvard CUSD 50 Board of Education recognized students and staff for recent achievements.
Junior Damon Mueller received recognition for being named WHIW’s Athlete of the Month for boys basketball.
Junior Cassandra Bailey was WHIW’s Athlete of the Month for girls basketball. Each student received a $20 gift certificate from First Place Promotions and Awards.
The board recognized Harvard High School’s Michelle Carnehl, Genevieve Dewaele, Dakotah Morales, Angela Vetter, and Angel Zuhlke for earning Best of Day Flute Ensemble for the IHSA Solo & Ensemble contest.
Harvard High School’s Music Department received recognition for earning 24 Division 1 (superior) ratings and 32 Division 2 (Excellent) ratings at the IHSA Solo & Ensemble contest.
Harvard High School freshman Nikolas Jimenez was recognized for qualifying for the IHSA State Championship. Harvard Junior High’s eighth grader Salvador Esquivel received recognition for winning 4th Place at the IESA State finals for wrestling. Seventh grader Elijah Brummett was also recognized for qualifying for the IESA State Finals.
The board convenes every month in open, public meetings to discuss district business and hear citizens’ concerns. An agenda is posted publicly in advance of board meetings.
