CUSD 50 Staff Spotlight: Alexa Cunningham, Student Support Facilitator at Harvard Junior High

"I grew up in Richmond, Illinois. I went to High School at RBCHS. After High School, I went to Western Illinois University for my History Education degree. While teaching I got my masters in curriculum and instruction from Aurora University. "

"Growing up I struggled with school. Reading was really hard for me. Amazing teachers like Mrs. Orsolini and Mrs. Clark helped me discover the fun in learning. My grandfather was also an educator and I saw the lasting impact he had on so many people. I wanted to be able to put even just a little bit of that good into the world."

"I love being an educator because I get to watch students grow and succeed in ways that make them proud of themselves. There is nothing more rewarding than being a part of their journey and knowing I played a role in getting them there."

"Harvard School District feels like a second home for me. This is my 13th year in the district and the feeling of community is amazing. I love the celebrations during Spirit Week for Homecoming and the great programs like AVID!"

"I think the best way to spread positivity is to be positive yourself!"
