Harvard School District 50 is proud to announce the appointment of Monica Diaz as the new Director of Bilingual and Dual Language Programs. With more than 15 years of experience in bilingual education and instructional leadership, Mrs. Diaz brings deep expertise and a strong commitment to supporting multilingual learners.
“I am thrilled to begin this journey with Harvard School District 50,” said Diaz. “I am deeply committed to advancing educational equity and excellence for our multilingual learners. I look forward to collaborating with students, families, and staff to continue strengthening our bilingual and dual language programs.”
Monica Diaz’s passion for cross-cultural learning began during a semester abroad in Ecuador while completing her undergraduate studies. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she went on to teach English in Peru. Throughout her career, she has served as a dual language teacher, bilingual and ESL teacher, and instructional coach.
She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from North Park University—where she was honored as commencement speaker—and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Mrs. Diaz is known for her relational leadership style, strong advocacy for students, and ability to build meaningful connections with families, staff, and the school community.
