Harvard Junior High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Podgorski as its new principal. Podgorski brings with him a wealth of experience in education, leadership, and student support, as well as a deep-rooted connection to the McHenry County community.
A graduate of Cary-Grove High School, Podgorski holds a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Iowa. He also earned Master’s degrees from Regis University in Education and from the American College of Education in Educational Leadership.
A lifelong McHenry County resident, Podgorski currently resides in Cary with his wife, Kelsey, and their two children, Connor and Quinn.
Podgorski began his career in education in Colorado, teaching high school English in the Adams 12 school district. After returning to Illinois, he taught English and coached soccer at Johnsburg High School before joining Woodstock School District 200. During his eight years in Woodstock, he served as an English teacher, head soccer coach, and Assistant Principal at both Woodstock North and Woodstock High School.
Most recently, Podgorski served as Principal of Central High School in District 301. He is also certified in AVID and Link Crew, two nationally recognized programs that support student achievement and school culture.
“I’m truly honored to become the next Principal of Harvard Junior High,” said Podgorski. “This community already feels like something special, and I’m excited to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to getting to know our students, families, and staff—and working together to create a place where everyone feels supported, valued, and inspired to grow every day.”
Harvard School District 50 is excited to welcome Mr. Podgorski and looks forward to the leadership, energy, and passion he will bring to Harvard Junior High.
