Harvard High School will induct four accomplished alumni into its Hall of Fame on Nov. 7, honoring graduates who've built businesses, shaped professional sports marketing and dedicated decades to community service.
Harvard Community Unit School District 50 will recognize the inductees during a ceremony Friday, Nov. 7, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Harvard High School.
This year’s inductees include:
Frank Herrera, Class of 2006, turned entrepreneurial grit into three thriving businesses: Johnstown Meat Co., where he's known as "Frank the Butcher"; Chicagoland Softwashing; and Sunny Suds Laundromat in Walworth, Wisconsin. Beyond business, he's donated to the Harvard Wrestling Club, provided turkeys to the Senior Center and volunteered in local schools to inspire students to pursue their passions.
Chadd Hartwig, Class of 1989, transformed his family's business, Hartwig Mechanical Inc., from a 25-employee residential plumbing company into a 160-employee union mechanical contractor serving major commercial and industrial projects across Northern Illinois. The third-generation president supports Balloon Fest, Harvard Milk Days, the Harvard Booster Club and serves on the Bravehearts board.
David Brady, Class of 1974, represents the fourth generation of his family in Harvard. A state runner-up wrestler who returned home to run Brady Jewelers for five decades, he led the Harvard Wrestling Club for 20 years and helped establish one of Illinois' first girls wrestling teams. His volunteer work spans 33 years on the football chain gang, leadership roles in the Jaycees and Chamber of Commerce, and countless community initiatives.
Zachary Fiegel, Class of 2010, Harvard's valedictorian who graduated summa cum laude from Northern Illinois University, now serves as senior director of merchandising partnerships for the NBA, overseeing collaborations with Nike, Fanatics, New Era and Mitchell & Ness. He earned the 2022 Licensing International Rising Stars Award and remains active in NBA Cares and community service initiatives.
Established in 2009 in partnership with the Harvard Community Education Foundation, the Hall of Fame recognizes alumni who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership and service. Nominees must have graduated at least 10 years prior to induction.
