Harvard Community Unit School District 50 is implementing organizational changes designed to strengthen leadership alignment and support student success across its five schools.

During the Nov. 19, 2025, Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Brandon C. White presented his comprehensive 18-month plan, a strategic roadmap developed through extensive engagement with the district's stakeholders since he assumed leadership on July 1.

We encourage the community to view the recorded presentation linked here, outlining the district's future path for serving approximately 2,500 students.

As part of the plan’s emphasis on organizational alignment, two existing administrative positions are receiving updated titles to better reflect their responsibilities and strategic focus. At this time, the district is committed to not increasing administrative staff. Instead, Dr. White’s plan reallocates existing Central Office resources to strengthen teaching and learning and support student outcomes.

After eight years of distinguished service to D50, Dr. Vicki Larson has announced her departure at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year. Her current role will be retitled Assistant Superintendent of Talent, Teaching, and Innovation, and a national search is underway for her successor.

Additionally, Chief Financial Officer Melissa Geyman Sell, who has served the district since 2022, will assume the updated title of Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations, effective on Nov. 20, 2025. Again, these changes do not include adding additional staff at any level of the district but instead refocusing existing positions on the priorities of the district: academic achievement and improved facilities for our students and community.
