Jake

Harvard CUSD 50 is pleased to welcome Jake Hernandez as the District’s new Director of Buildings & Grounds. Hernandez began his role at the start of September and brings more than 20 years of experience in K–12 facilities operations, maintenance and project management.

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Hernandez began his career in 2001 and steadily advanced through roles including part-time grounds employee, full-time custodian, Head Custodian, and Facilities Manager. His experience includes managing multiple buildings, leading custodial and maintenance teams, capital planning, budgeting and ensuring compliance with state and local codes.

Most recently, Hernandez served as the Director of Buildings & Grounds/Safety for the East Troy Community School District in Wisconsin. During his time there, he played a key role in planning, informing and executing a $19.4 million referendum project. He supported the successful completion of Phase 1 this past August, gaining valuable experience in referendum implementation, communication and large-scale construction oversight.

Hernandez’s decision to join Harvard CUSD 50 was motivated by his passion for plant management, customer service and supporting communities through well-maintained, functional facilities. After researching the district and meeting with staff, he felt a strong connection to Harvard’s mission and culture.

Hernandez is looking forward to beginning his work with Harvard CUSD 50 and helping ensure that district facilities remain safe and supportive for students and staff. He is eager to partner with the school community and contribute to the district’s ongoing progress. Harvard CUSD 50 is pleased to welcome him and confident he will make a strong, positive impact.
