Eleven Harvard High School seniors have been named Illinois State Scholars, placing them among the top 10 percent of graduates statewide.
The recognition, awarded to just 19,200 students across Illinois this year, honors seniors who demonstrated exceptional performance on college entrance exams while maintaining outstanding grades through six semesters.
"This group of students represents the dedication and hard work students in District 50 demonstrate each and every day," said Superintendent Dr. Brandon C. White. "Being named an Illinois State Scholar reflects a commitment to educational excellence that we pursue for all students. This honor is a strong indicator of the bright futures ahead for these seniors."
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission administers the State Scholar Program, selecting recipients based on ACT or SAT scores and class rank.
The Board of Education recognized the scholars at its Jan. 21 meeting.
