The Harvard Community Unit School District 50 Board of Education has approved the hire of Chris Rozanski as the district's next Athletic Director, effective July 1, 2026. A career educator with experience in the classroom and on the field, Rozanski brings more than two decades of experience as a teacher, coach and school administrator.

"While athletics are an important part of every school, it is the collective talent found in every club and activity that builds a true sense of spirit,” said Rozanski. “I am honored to join the Hornet family and look forward to supporting students as they discover their strengths in extracurriculars, excel in competition, and contribute to the community. I look forward to working alongside our coaches, advisors, and families to help our students thrive."

Rozanski comes to Harvard after eight years at Rockford Boylan High School, where he served as principal and dean of academics, overseeing day-to-day school operations for 500 students and 65 faculty and staff members. Before stepping into the principal's office, he built a strong track record in athletic administration as athletic director at Huntley High School, where from 2014 to 2017 he guided 25 varsity programs and provided leadership to more than 100 coaches serving nearly 1,300 student-athletes.

Rozanski launched his career in education at Rockford Boylan High School in 2000, where he spent 13 years as a science teacher, educating students in anatomy and physiology, biology, botany and zoology. Even while serving as a classroom teacher, he was a fixture on the sidelines — coaching freshman boys basketball, serving as a varsity football assistant and eventually becoming the school's varsity baseball head coach, a role he held alongside his duties as assistant athletic director from 2005 to 2012.

Rozanski has a master of arts in administration and supervision from National Louis University and a bachelor of arts in biology from North Central College. He also holds an Illinois Professional Educator License and maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the Illinois Athletic Director Association, the Illinois Principals Association and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
