Harvard Community Unit School District 50 invites the community to join the conversation as it prepares to launch a strategic planning process this fall focused on strengthening academic outcomes for every student.
The district will host two community listening sessions to kick off that work. Both are scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the Central Office, the first on July 27 and the second on Aug. 10. Families, staff, students, and neighbors are all invited.
The purpose of the sessions is simple: to listen. The conversations are designed to gather honest community feedback that will help guide the district's next chapter. Participants will be invited to reflect on what Harvard schools do well, where the district can grow, and what they hope to see for students in the years ahead.
"Our schools belong to this community, and the strongest plans are the ones we build together," said Superintendent Dr. Brandon C. White. "These sessions are an invitation to celebrate what we're proud of, talk honestly about where we can improve, and put our students at the center of every decision. I'm looking forward to continuing this conversation with our families, staff, and students and hearing what matters most to them."
The listening sessions are the first step in a greater effort. The feedback gathered this summer will inform a community survey this fall, giving residents the chance to weigh in as the district shapes its strategic plan. The listening sessions will differ from those held earlier in the year, as we will focus on improving academic achievement and educational opportunities for all students.
Residents who cannot attend in person are encouraged to watch for the upcoming survey and other opportunities to share their thoughts throughout the process.
