January Board Recognition

On Wednesday, January 19 2022, CUSD 50 Board of Education and Dr. Corey Tafoya recognized exceptional individuals within our district. 

For the first quarter, Dr. Tafoya received 46 nominations towards the 6 BHAG goals. Below are the staff that received the most nominations for working toward our district's goals.

STAFF RECOGNITION

Quarter 1 Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAG) Recognition – First BHAG recognition; 46 nominations

Jennifer Johnson – Professional Learning Communities

  • First Grade Dual Language, Crosby

  • Volunteered for Literacy Leadership Committee; creates a welcoming and engaging experience

  • Always prepared; prompts colleagues with in-depth questions and listens actively

Alexa Cunningham – AVID

  • AVID/Social Studies, HJHS

  • Fantastic AVID demonstrations at staff meetings; makes AVID understandable for everyone

  • Always helping teachers learn/integrate AVID strategies into daily lessons

Armando Valdes – Seal of Biliteracy

  • Spanish Teacher/Division Chair, HHS

  • Known as the Language Ambassador; countless hours helping students with Seal of Biliteracy

  • Positive, hard work ethic, kind; models the care and pride it takes to achieve biliteracy/bilingualism 

Jeff Fisher – Graduation Rate

  • Math Teacher, HHS

  • No doubt he wants students to grow and succeed; reaching out about grades; help after school

  • Cares deeply about his students’ progress, not only in math, but in life

Lea Swenson – Deliriously Happy People

  • Secretary, Harvard High School

  • Always gives 110% with a smile on her face; a positive mindset – even in the difficult situations

  • Runs the behind-the-scenes at HHS; stepped up to be Substitute Coordinator

Julie Soutar – 21st Century Learning Spaces

  • Building and Grounds Secretary, Central Office

  • Has kept D50 buildings running smoothly for years; essential to entire maintenance/operations crew

  • Supportive and hard-working; always willing to lend a hand; radiates positivity to all colleagues
